The Business & Community Engagement Specialist cultivates, grows, and actively maintains lasting partnerships with regional employers to identify workforce needs and support mission-driven programming. This role focuses on developing strong business relationships, assessing industry skill gaps, and aligning Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s services to meet employer demand.

This team member spends significant time marketing Goodwill’s programs to local employers while facilitating career development activities that lead to meaningful employment outcomes for participants.

Your Typical Day

Business & Employer Partnerships

  • Build and maintain employer relationships that lead to ongoing hiring opportunities
  • Understand workforce needs and connect employers to Goodwill services
  • Coordinate hiring events and track successful placements
  • Maintain accurate partnership documentation and follow‑up
Community Partnerships
  • Partner with community organizations to support client needs such as housing, food, and healthcare
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date community resource guide
  • Represent Goodwill at employer meetings and community events
Career Development & Client Support
  • Assess client skills and career goals to support appropriate job placement
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training or educational opportunities
  • Provide job readiness support, including interview preparation
  • Support post‑secondary enrollment and credential completion
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address participant barriers
  • Track client progress and outcomes, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with program goals

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in workforce development, business engagement, or similar role.
  • Relevant Goodwill experience may substitute for workforce development experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to present Goodwill’s mission and programs to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel between locations and to off-site meetings and events about 50% of the time
