Role Summary: As a Delivery Driver you will be responsible for safely transporting goods and materials to various locations and customer sites, ensuring all deliveries are made on time and in good condition. This is a non-CDL position. You will also be expected to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and drive a dump truck in all types of weather conditions
  • Adhere to all applicable traffic laws, safety regulations, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles as required
  • Load and unload product safely and securely, frequently using a forklift
  • Keep electronic and/or paper vehicle logs and records of cargo as required by law or requested by company
  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
  • Report any mechanical or other problems with the vehicle to the Store Manager, troubleshoot minor problems
  • Follow delivery instructions and delivery schedules from Management
  • Ensure all product deliveries are signed for and proof of delivery is turned in at the end of each day
  • Utilize GPS navigation, paper maps, road signs and other navigational items
  • Understand the product and item numbers to not deliver incorrect items or quantities
  • Communicate any problems or delays to Store Manager
  • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude when interacting with customers
  • Provide prompt, courteous customer service
  • Maintain company vehicles which includes keeping it clean, knowing when the maintenance is due and notifying proper people when maintenance is required
  • Fueling and unloading truck at the end of each day so it is ready for the next day
  • Maintain receipts pertaining to fuel purchases made on the company fuel card
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include – stocking, order entry, shipping/receiving, etc.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Report check
  • Knowledge of local roads and traffic laws
  • Adherence to safety standards
  • Ability to work with a team of other drivers
  • Ability to work in different weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisor or dispatcher
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Forklift experience is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Constantly sitting, seeing, using hands and feet, while driving a motorized vehicle
  • Frequently required to talk,see, and hear
  • Able to occasionally lift 60 lbs. and lift 45 lbs. repeatedly
  • Occasional stooping, bending, walking
  • Able to climb up to and down from the bed of the truck and truck cab
  • Able to access engine compartment and crawl under vehicle for safety inspections

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed inside a truck but may require some time outside in the elements when securing a load or performing pre- and post-trip inspections or assisting in yard. Employee will encounter weather when driving and working in the yard, which may include rain, snow, sleet, a wide range of temperatures from very cold to very hot. Yards can be dusty, dirty, poorly lit and have uneven surfaces.
