JOB TITLE: OPIOID, OUTREACH & PREVENTION SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: PREVENTION & OUTREACH MANAGER
FUNCTION:
Under the direct supervision of the Prevention & Outreach Manager, the Opioid Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of opioid prevention programs. This role involves organizing and maintaining accurate records, assisting with daily administrative tasks, and ensuring the timely and efficient submission of required reports. The Prevention Specialist will also support the Prevention Manager in program-related data analysis and help maintain up-to-date files that contribute to the success of opioid prevention initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive):
· Opioid Prevention Program Delivery: Implement and deliver opioid substance use prevention curriculum to youth, ensuring it aligns with program goals and objectives.
· Youth Service File Management: Review and complete incomplete applications and youth service files by gathering the necessary information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
· Document Preparation and Sorting: Compile, prepare, and organize program documents and reports, ensuring that attendance records are up-to-date and ready for submission.
· File Maintenance: Maintain general program files, including those for current and past youth members, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible.
· Confidential Document Storage: Safely store completed documents in a locked filing cabinet in a designated secure location to ensure confidentiality.
· Communication of Data Needs: Actively participate in Prevention meetings by communicating data-related needs and helping to ensure that program goals are met.
· Email Communication: Use the designated BGC email system as the primary method of communication with external organizations, staff, and stakeholders.
· Verbal and Written Communication: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with staff, youth, and external groups.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
· This position is Part-Time. The hours are typically 2:00pm – 6:00pm, Monday-Friday. This may include some infrequent Saturdays. These hours can be adjusted by the Prevention and Outreach Manager as needed.
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Valid State Driver’s License and must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including, but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
· Basic knowledge of proper filing procedures.
· Ability to relate with children and parents, highly preferred.
· Experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.
· Strong Organization, Time Management Skills and ability to set Priorities
· Obtain strong Work Ethic, Positive Attitude, High Level of Energy and Flexibility
· Strong communication, Interpersonal skills, and Attention to Detail
· Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment.
· Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally during a standard 4 to 8 hour shift.
· Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
· Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.
· The noise level in the work environment is high due to work is conducted in a Club for children, inside and outside setting.
It is the policy of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment.
All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening.
No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources.
Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement
