Location: 1400 Noyes St., Utica, NY 13502 (Oneida County)
Salary Range: $296,801 – $310,022 Annually (Grade 38)
Employment Type: Full‑Time, Permanent (Non‑competitive Class)
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, recovery‑oriented psychiatric care to individuals served by OMH.
- Diagnose, treat, prescribe, and coordinate services for assigned patients under the direction of a higher‑level psychiatrist or physician.
- Serve as primary prescriber; manage psychopharmacology and evidence‑based medication therapy.
- Supervise lower‑level psychiatrists, physicians, and other medical providers (Psychiatrist 2). Guide clinical practice.
- Integrate mental and physical health; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for integrated care.
- Maintain current licensure, certification, and professional development (CME).
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Doctor licensed and registered to practice medicine in New York State.
- Board certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- For Psychiatrists 1: Completion of an ABPN‑approved training program in psychiatry.
- For Psychiatrists 2: ABPN certification (independent practice and supervision).
- Eligibility for HELPS: licensing in another state or Canada plus a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State.
- Experience managing integrated care, psychopharmacology, and supervising medical providers.
- One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 (for competitive appointments).
