What you will do:

  • Hospital radiology nurses work with patients of all ages, providing care before and after imaging procedures, and assisting the radiologist during the procedure. They are often called upon to provide care in emergencies and a wide variety of procedures.  The function of this job is to oversee patients within the Radiology department. 
  • Will manage CTA Cardiac, MRI pacemaker patients, MRI Breast and Breast Biopsy, and Prostate exams
  • Monitor patients for allergic reaction or if a patient is not feeling well.
  • Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Assess, educate and explain to patients what to expect for complicated radiology procedures.
  • Collect data and prepare monthly statistical report on special procedure activity. (Follow ups, complications, etc.)
  • Participate in Radiology staff development by providing formal in-service training to Radiology staff on medical equipment used in Radiology (suction, 02 defibrillator, crash cart, etc.) and on hospital infection control procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain medical equipment used in Radiology. (suction, 02, defibrillator, crash cart, etc.
  • Participate in hospital wide activities:  Member of Infection Control and member of Radiation Safety Committee.
  • Educate patients. Call before and after procedures.   Assessing, monitoring and resuscitating.
  • Starting and assessing peripheral IV lines, infusion ports and Foley catheters.
  • Assist with imaging test by administering and monitoring medication. Also, coordinating care between radiology and other departments.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
  • Assist with clerical duties (phone, scheduling, computer entry, etc.)
  • Help insure safe and clean working environment for patients and co-workers.

What you will need:

  • Education: Graduate of accredited nursing school – Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Nursing
  • License/Certification: Active IL RN License; American Heart Association CPR (BLS) Certification and American Heart Association ACLS Certification
  • Experience: Prefer at least 5 years RN experience with hospital acute care background. ICU or ER experience preferred. One year radiology nursing experience preferred.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication skills required, computer literate and understand MRI safety.
