JOB SUMMARYThe Youth Organizer increases civic participation, leadership development, and community engagement among multicultural, underrepresented youth and their families. Under the direction of the Youth Program Director, this role recruits and supports youth leaders, facilitates organizing and leadership development activities, and advances DHF’s mission through youth-centered civic engagement and social justice campaigns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Recruit middle school, high school, and college-aged youth to participate in DHF youth programs across assigned regions.
- Establish, support, and sustain youth leadership chapters.
- Facilitate youth leadership development, civic engagement, and organizing activities, including evenings and weekends.
- Deliver DHF youth curriculum to youth participants and families.
- Coach youth leaders using ethical, strengths-based leadership practices.
- Support community improvement projects, organizing campaigns, and voter engagement efforts.
- Collaborate across DHF departments to support intergenerational movement-building.
- Build and maintain relationships with youth, families, school administrators, and community partners.
- Participate in meetings with schools and community stakeholders to support youth engagement.
- Support transportation coordination for youth in accordance with DHF policies.
- Represent DHF professionally in schools, community spaces, and public events.
- Participate in coalitions and partnerships aligned with youth organizing and civic engagement.
- Support DHF fundraising activities and community-facing events as assigned.
- Maintain accurate program records and participant data.
- Track expenses and submit documentation in accordance with DHF procedures.
- Submit timely weekly and monthly reports documenting activities and outcomes.
- Capture and upload photos and videos to DHF systems and platforms.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check and complete mandated reporter training.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working with youth.
- Commitment to working with diverse and multicultural communities.
This position requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds; frequent community-based and outdoor work; operating a motor vehicle; and evening and weekend work.
